Well we took some time working out exactly what we were trying to achieve, juggling seasons and jobs etc, but I think we are set. It's looking like we're off at the begining of September. It'll be a train ride to Moscow and then on to Kazakhstan from where we start our cycle to Dacca in Bangladesh to effectively cycle the length of the Himalayas, finishing at the mouth of the Bramaputra in the Bay of Bengal. Next it'll be Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
First is Kazakhstan, then the mountains of Kyrgyzstan to Osh, before heading over the border to China and Kashi. Next is the mighty Tibeten plateau, followed by Nepal, India and Bangladesh, before heading to south east asia.
It's amazing how much time seems to go into the research of such a project, but it does uncover some great stories of others who have cycled similar routes. We've got less than 9 months now before blast off and only half a year before we need to really get ourselves together.
Plans always seem to change, but we feel fairly confident we are committed to the route.
Here's to fun planning...
